College Life

“Mom, you know how when you go to college you usually live there? Well, do you have to keep your shoes on the whole time?” Jay-8

I love these off-the-wall questions. I can only begin to imagine the scenario he has dreamed up that would prompt such a question…

“Ok class, that wraps it up for the day. Please feel free to grab a pillow and blanket out of the utility closet at the back of the room and find a spot on the floor. We will begin class again tomorrow at 8 am sharp. For those of you interested in a shower, the faculty will be hosing down students in the Quad between 7 and 7:30 am. Pop-Tarts will be passed out at 7:45 in the cafeteria. You can grab a drink at one of the many water fountains located around campus. At this time, I would like to reiterate that this University is strictly a “shoes on” campus. Your shoes should remain on at all times. There will be zero tolerance for breaking the “shoes on” rule. If you are caught with your shoes off, the campus police will immediately remove you from University grounds and you will be expelled.  Are there any questions?”

Will he still be able to sneak some chocolate for breakfast while the professors and campus police are sleeping?

Today my 6yr old asked, “Mom. Does 5 + 5 really equal 10? Did God make that?”

P.S. I wish I attended the university described above, though I quite enjoyed my college years as was.

Haha! Love the continental Pop Tart breakfast and nightly hose-downs. Too funny!

  4. Bearman says:

Questions? Yes…what happens when my foot turns purple after a few months of wearing my shoes?

  5. Hahaha…
    that’s good news for me…
I’m perfectly happy keeping my shoes on.
I might even graduate with honors!

LOL … too cute. I get a kick out of the way kids think. 😀

  7. Oh my, so funny. Especially your “rules” at the end.

  8. Your son sounds pretty smart if he’s already beginning to realize how important shoe-wearing is to future life success. It’s pretty hard to get into college, get a good job, or a girlfriend if you don’t wear shoes.

    • I completely agree. I don’t think enough people understand the importance of shoe-wearing and it’s effect on many of today’s world issues. I think a lot of problems could be avoided if people just put their damn shoes on.
