The Tale of the Purple Nurple and the Pink Tutu

“Mom, where are the band aids? Jay just gave me the worst nipple twister of my life. I’m pretty sure my nipple’s gone.”

“Oh c’mon, Will! I hardly twisted. Plus, you sorta deserve a purple nurple for saying  you’re getting me a tutu for Christmas…and a pink one with sparkles. You know orange is my favorite color!”

Jay-9 & Will-10

It’s all fun and games until someone loses a nipple. Try explaining that one to the pediatrician at the next visit.

A mother's plight to find the funny in the frustrating and save her sanity.

  1. Purple nurple. It’s been a while since I’ve heard that one.

  2. Lisa Wields Words says:

My initial reaction was to check that mine were still there. Seriously. I think both of them deserve to see some tutus under the Christmas tree this year, don’t you? The picture is HILARIOUS!!

    • Tutus from Santa! Actually, Will would be mortified. Jay would enjoy the opportunity to act ridiculous and entertain his family and friends. He’s all about getting a laugh which can be extremely frustrating at times…the kid takes nothing seriously.

  3. Ha!
Well, purple and pink with sparkles to go together nicely
(I hear accessorizing is very important)!

  4. jacquelincangro says:

I’ve never heard of a purple nurple. Is it anything like a wet Willie? 😛

  5. You made me spill my coffee! Yes, nothing is worse than a missing nipple..

  6. muddledmom says:

I’m thinking putting a Band-Aid there isn’t going to feel good either, especially when brother sees it and decides to rip it off!

  7. Bearman says:

Glad the kids are still calling them purple nurples.

  8. ryoko861 says:

Scary thing is Jay said he would like an orange one as opposed to a pink tutu.

  9. John Erickson says:

I gotta agree with Ryoko. Jay welcoming a tutu of ANY shade is more than a bit disturbing!

    • John, Jay was born a jokester. We have no idea where it came from, considering we are extremely serious people. 😉
But seriously, we are a little concerned about what will come out of his mouth next and we have yet to find his off switch.

  10. frigginloon says:

Lucky they weren’t playing whistle or lose it 😦

  11. hmmm…an orange tutu…very fashion forward – everyone will be wearing them soon. continue…

  12. I love the “orange is my favorite color” part! What a riot it must be in your house!

  13. msmouse7 says:

Sorry for my short comment; I’m too busy laughing about “purple nurples.”

  14. Carrie says:

    HAHAHA!! A purple nurple!

Now I feel hip and young again! Didn’t know that term was still used by kids!

I will SO find a reason to throw that one out at the office this week.

    • Welcome, Carrie! You are among friends.
I think you might be my first ever comment that has come over from Twitter. Thanks!
When you throw out purple nurple at work, make sure to follow it up with an atomic wedgie.
      Thanks for reading!

  15. Oh those words are all new to me, I like it though… “purple nurples” and “nipple twister”
    lol, very cool 🙂

  16. Karen says:

Laugh Out Loud funny! Yes it is all fun and games until someone loses a nipple or has to have their “Kicks” cereal extracted from their nose. Pediatricians should write books!!
