Brush Your Teeth, Brush Your Teeth, Brush Your Teeth

“Jay, did you remember to brush your teeth?”

“Is that true?”

“Please go brush your teeth. You’re going to miss the bus.”

“Got it, Mom! But, don’t you just hate it when you’re in such a rush that you forget to brush your teeth for like…3 days in a row?”

“Jay, I’ve never forgotten to brush my teeth for 3 days in a row.”

“Really? Hmm. Well, then. Me neither.”

I always remember to brush my teeth, but I hate it when I’m in such a rush that I forget my sunglasses. Three days in a row without sunglasses wreaks havoc on my crow’s feet. So, tell me, what do you hate to forget?

I also hate forgetting my sunglasses! For the same reason!! Aging sucks! That and my cell phone. It’ll be then that an emergency will appear and I won’t have my phone. Oh, and my credit card. I have turned around after leaving to go back for all or any of those three things.

It’s one of those parental nags that you have to keep at or the repercussions will be long and painful. The worse thing is braces! My kid wore them for two years and after we moved, I had to have them removed. They did nothing for my kid’s teeth. Wasted money. But I don’t miss going every other week to have those stupid rubber bands replaced and the braces tightened.

    • Yes, forgetting your cell phone is torture. I’m the same way…when I leave it behind, I convince myself that it’s the day the school will catch on fire or one of my kids will come down with a violent stomach bug. Did I mention, I’m a bit neurotic? 😉

I hate to forget to give my wife a kiss before I leave for work.

Dinner! I hate that I forgot all about dinner and then it is time to make it. And then we eat, well, crap.

    • That’s why it’s always a good idea to have a few boxes of Kraft Mac & Cheese as back up. I’m a fan of breakfast for dinner on the days when I’ve completely forgotten about feeding my family for dinner. What kid doesn’t love pancakes for dinner?

I forget things all the time. My keys, my phone, my wallet, my….. wait, what was that again?

I just got to comment on the brushing. My kids are driving me insane with it…please spit into the sink and not at the mirror. Are you brushing your teeth…get back in the bathroom. We don’t brush our teeth watching TV!

BBBBRRRRUUSSSH. Don’t just leave the toothbrush in your mouth and wiggle it around or bite on it…brush. My 8 and 6 year olds.

Wow that was super fast…did you brush well? “um, I think so. No, wait…gotta go back.”

  6. Sandi Ormsby says:

I hate when I forget to get completely dressed and walk around half naked trying to get breakfast done, make lunches, remind kids to brush teeth and go to answer door (I watch a baby) and realize I’m half dressed and have to yell for them to wait. I’ve walked out the door with my shirt backward before…

    • Have you noticed if your neighbors are suddenly spending a lot more time washing their windows?
There have been days that I’ve discovered my shirt was inside out right before bedtime. You know people were pointing and laughing all day long.

  7. Lenore Diane says:

Charlie has forgotten his underwear a time or two. Why, Nancy? Why?
I hate it when I leave my travel mug full of fresh brewed coffee on the counter.

    • As long as Charlie isn’t wearing jeans, I think he’ll be ok. I’m sure he’s just trying to rush so he has more time with his Legos.
Leaving your house without your coffee is worse than forgetting to put on underwear…even if you’re wearing jeans!

  8. Tony McGurk says:

I often rush out the door for work, start my bike up & realise I forgot my helmet, again…

  9. John Erickson says:

Remote controls. I have actually rubbed the covers off buttons on the ACs and dehumidifiers around here, ’cause I lose the remote and it’s just simpler to walk over to the darn things!
That, and clicking that silly little “Notify” box at the bottom of blog comments. AARRGGHH!!!! 😀

  10. Anti-perspirant. So, I keep some in my closet at work.

I have had a few days where I get to bedtime and realize I forgot to brush. Then my wife lets me know how gross I am.

I like being clean but my ADD gets the best of me sometimes.

    Turning the iron off 🙄

  15. I’m to the point where my leaving one room and going into another automatically = my forgetting why I did so in the first place. Yeah. I HATE that.

Hi Nancy! Just a heads up; I just gave you the Versatile Blogger Award. Please don’t shoot me; it’s a lot of work!

  17. Karen says:

I’m just happy to know my two kids are not the ONLY ones who “forget” to brush their teeth — several days in a row!!
