“Mom, I think it would be really hard to start-up a new country. I mean, think of how stressful it would be to come up with a national anthem. And, what about all the pressure involved in designing a new flag? I have anxiety just thinking about it!”
She’s only slightly clueless. I swear.
“Oh, and by the way, I really love my history class. We do a lot of art.” Anna – “almost 13”
That was such a great movie! Hey, if all we had to worry about was a flag and song, life would be so nice! She’s got the right idea. Why worry about an economy or banks!? I mean, “AS IF!!!”

Hey, that flag artwork is HARD. Just look at the number of ideas that were around before the US adopted the stars and stripes! Shoot, we even keep changing the current one every time we add a state. (Or two – if you find a 49-star flag for sale, RUN – don’t walk – away from it, it’s a phony! 😉 )

Not much stress involved in the making of that one, huh?

Wow, that IS an easy one – provided you can find a big piece of green fabric. I was gonna vote for Japan, just take a white bedsheet and spill some red paint. After all, it worked for the 3 Stooges! 😀

If you really want to impress your family and friends, try adding a bit of armpit music to compliment your national anthem.

Nancy–when I was a kid,we used to have a three day project in 7th/8th grade where all the kids were broken into countries. We competed against each other doing exactly this….we wrote national anthems, wrote declarions of independence, constitutions, and designed our own flag!
