Go Ahead, Quit Your Day Job

“Dad, does is totally suck to have to go to work everyday?”

“No, I wouldn’t say that, but I’d much rather hang out with you guys all day. And, by the way, watch your mouth, mister.”

“So, they don’t give you recess or nothing?”

“Nope. No recess”

“You know what, Dad? If I had a crappy sorta job like yours, I’d make everybody go out to the parking lot at 9:00 everyday and play kickball. Then, if I got bored in the afternoon, I’d sneak around the office and make funny videosΒ and put ’em on YouTube.Β I’d probably get like a million hits and then somebody would wanna make it a real movie and pay me a bunch of money. Then I’d quit my crappy job.”Β

“Thanks, buddy. I’ll keep that in mind.”

“No problem, Dad.”

  3. Actually, if you have a lot of routine-bound folk at work, you CAN score recess. When I worked at Ameritech, EVERYBODY went to lunch from noon to one – never an exception. So I started going out to lunch at 11am, coming back at noon to “cover” for everybody else while they went to lunch. Yeah – I so TOTALLY worked through their lunch hour. Right. Sure. πŸ˜‰
